Can You Guess What McDonald’s Food Item This Is? Say hello to mechanically separated chicken. It’s what all fast-food chicken is made – things like chicken nuggets and patties. Also, the processed frozen chicken in the stores is made from it. Basically, the entire chicken is smashed and pressed through a sieve — bones, eyes, guts, and all. it comes out looking like this. There’s more: because it’s crawling with bacteria, it will be washed with ammonia, soaked in it, actually. Then, because it tastes gross, it will be reflavored artificially. Then, because it is weirdly pink, it will be dyed with artificial color. But, hey, at least it tastes good, right? The commentary was written by Kalle Kiander too——pulled it from Facebook.

This is horrifying. Further reason to make efforts to eat fresh, non-processed food—-even though it will require some work and creativity. Yup, making a trip to New Leaf this weekend.

Oh, and watch Food, Inc. if you haven’t yet. Definitely worth your time and available on Netflix Instant.

Ingredients for shrimp capellini: olive oil, shrimp, salt, pepper, oregano, red cooking wine, cream, freshly chopped garlic, lemon juice, tomatoes, pasta.
Ingredients for a beautiful Thursday night: this lovely man, dinner, and a Billie Holiday Pandora station.
My stomach and heart are very happy right now :)
(On a side-note…he biked through the rain with all those ingredients in his backpack just to spend time with me. I really don’t have words for how much I appreciate him.)

They started selling these at my local Publix, finally! Before you judge them, they taste delicious——and nothing artificial, no hydrogenated oil, and 0g trans fat! Contains potato, tomato, spinach, green pepper, parsley, paprika, celery, garlic, pressed sunflower oil, rice flour, and sea salt. Yessir. :)

Publix, this is your first and only fail.

Dad: “I’m going to the store, do you want anything?”
Me: “Yeah, could you pick up some yogurt?”
Dad: “What kind?”
Me: “Oh, like strawberry-banana or vanilla or some normal flavor.”
He comes back with SPICY PINEAPPLE yogurt. Spicy. Pineapple. Ummmm…… O.o
